Store Content on the other hand can be found in your purchase history on thesims3.com. This guide focuses on issues that occur when trying to download and installing Store items. Some of it is already covered here: FAQ The Sims 3 Store, so please make sure to read that first. The focus of this thread is to troubleshoot the availble logs.
The idea of The Sims is obviously taken from a doll play: you take a little human-like creature or several and imitate real life with them. But these digital dolls are much more simulating real people. Not only they have their own gender and age, appearance and home; they also have their traits and wishes, social skills and relationships, and it can all be developed according to what’s the Sim’s nature. Your mission is to provide your Sims a happy intense life.
This time the developers enlarged and enriched the environment. Not only you can buy things to decorate your sims’ house, but also explore the town and make it social. The town is inhabited by characters you may know from previous installments; their stories to investigate and follow are just another pleasure.
Download The Sims 3 to run a whole family of Sims, with up to 8 persons in it. The game goes on while at least one of your Sims is alive. And if it perishes, you can start anew. Your mission is to provide them with a happy life constantly. There are two extremes possible: either you recreate yourself and your family members, or make up someone completely unlike you, with all the grades between. As you set their traits, you’ll need to follow them to keep them satisfied and going. Work and have fun, attend meetings and parties, go out dating or shopping, and keep up your looks! That’s the sense.
Why did this game gain so much popularity? Because modeling life is always fun. Some play it to rest from not-so-pretty routine; some try to visualize their dreams, and some use it as a kind of therapy. Anyway, it’s pretty exciting.
From 2018 the game obviously lacks multiplayer mode, but it’s the series’ idea. While you build your perfect life, you do it in private, so no one can see it, and you don’t have to pretend even a little. Keeping the game single-player, the developers keep it true and honest.
Yet there’s a whole lot of other expansions and add-ons, adding new storylines and locations, new items to buy and characters to meet, new skills, careers and recreations, pets and even supernatural creatures. The last one was called “Into the Future” and offered a time travel story; meanwhile, the actual future was already knocking on the door, and its name was The Sims 4.
Life in 3D
When the game is mostly about the simulation, it should look great. Life of the Sims goes on in full 3D, from the beginning to infinity. As you create your characters or their first mansion, dress them up, furnish rooms, bring them out to work or party or just walk around, it’s all as three-dimensional as can be.
Though the level of graphics is so 2009, it’s not necessarily bad. Lacking HD details like in further installments, the design is still expressive. The characters look drawn (as they are), with no intention to make them realistic, but these drawn images do their work of representing persons. So it is with nature, buildings, different objects.
The game sounds quite cartoonish, but not childish or comic, just a bit schematic. The sounds simulate real ones, as well as the graphics, simulate photorealism, and the game itself simulates life: they are simplified and not so realistic enough, but they do their symbolizing well.
Controlling Little Characters
As the game has been released for miscellaneous devices, there are at least two control modes: via a controller (for consoles), via touchscreen or via keyboard and mouse (for desktops). Some versions offer even trickier system (like The Sims 3 for Wii U, with its combined touch-and-buttons controls).
The Sims 3 for Windows 10 (as well as 7, 8 and – if you keep it – Vista) is fully controllable with keyboard and mouse. Almost any key is a shortcut to some action, so here is the table. It’s easier with a controller, but it requires additional efforts to set up.
Where to Settle with Your Sims
The compatibility of the game may cause some issues because it was first released back in 2009. It was the time of Windows Vista and OS X Leopard, and it all has changed since. The Sims 3 for PC still runs on actual Windows 10 (as well as The Sims 3 for Mac is quite compatible with High Sierra and Mojave), but there are nuances. For example, the game cannot recognize the latest video cards and uses default settings, so its graphical force cannot unfold.
![The Sims 3 Store The Sims 3 Store](/uploads/1/2/7/2/127275584/233544709.jpg)
The Sims 3 for PS3 is still available, and it looks good on it. The same story is with The Sims 3 for Xbox 360: the console supports the game with all its add-ons and updates. Nintendo fans can take the game anywhere, as The Sims 3 for 3DS has little difference. So if you stick to those old consoles, this is the simulator you’d like to keep.
It’s not the only way the game went mobile. The version of The Sims 3 for iOS was rebranded into The Sims™ FreePlay, but it kept most traits or the third installment, being released in 2011. Instead of just porting, the developer rolled out a special optimized version. The same is with The Sims 3 for Android.
Alas, The Sims 3 for PS4 or other new generation consoles wasn’t even planned. The new consoles get the fourth installment of it.
FAQ
1. How do I…?
Everything is told right within the game. There are always hints when you try any new actions.
2. Are add-ons and expansions still published?
No, the latest one was there in 2013.
3. Is there The Sims 3 for iPad?
If you search this exact name, you won’t find anything. You need The Sims™ FreePlay.

I already have Riverview, Bridgeport, Twinbrook, and Isla Paradiso. I kinda want something different, but what is the best in your guys' opinion?
-
Can't give an opinion on Lucky Palms and Sunlit Tides but the others are all wonderful in their own way. Midnight Hollow is a bit dark and I believe some consider it too dark to play but it comes with great new content and if you get the gold version it comes with a toy store. It's definitely different from the towns you already have.
Lunar Lakes is probably the most different as it has a futuristic theme and is even on a different planet. I love the Tree of Prosperity that comes with it.
Aurora Skies is also quite different from other worlds, with a Nordic theme and quite colorful. If you have seasons, I've read the snow will be a little odd. Though it quickly became my favorite world I haven't played it that far so I can't tell how it looks. The downside I found is that you can't lower the terrain too much. I tried to make a basement by lowering the ground instead of using the tool so it could be a walk out one and my sim had to swim to go from one side to another The Gold version comes with Tiny Prodigies Early Learning Center and with it a toddler walker and play pen, which are great when you don't want the parents to continuously teach the toddlers to walk and talk but rather have them do other stuff, but it's cheaper to get the world and venue separately.
Hidden Springs is great as well and comes with the Fountain of Youth.1 -
@Packaroni17, it's a pity you can't buy worlds by other means since you are interested in Monte Vista. The best way to buy Monte Vista is to get the World's Bundle which usually is the same price as just one world but comes with both Monte Vista and Hidden Springs. This can only be purchased through a store either physical, Origin or places like Amazon.

Personally I really like sunlit tides and hidden springs they are both beautiful and bother are one of those worlds I could use all of the time :)Check out my origin ID on the gallery at EvieMaiye95

I have Sunlit Tides, Midnight Hollow, Hidden Springs, Dragon Valley, Aurora Skies, and Riverview. Each world is beautiful and has a lot to offer. I suggest going to the worlds page on the Sims store site and look through the media and items to see which one strikes your fancy the most.'Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.'

Sunlit Tides is pretty, but it's very similar to Isla Paradiso minus the cool diving lots and houseboats. The sauna is great, though.
Lunar Lakes is great if you like fantasy/science fiction themed worlds, but it doesn't have enough room for all the extra lots that came with EPs and personally I find it really annoying to have things like school buses and taxis.
Hidden Springs is beautiful. Not really special, and I used to think it was a bit overly bright - but that's before Sims 4 came out. Now when I play it, it looks quite subdued. LOL!!!!
Aurora Skies has a very interesting night sky, but it does look horrible when it snows (the snow on the lots tends to be grey).
Midnight Hollow is my personal favourite, but it is very dark - all the textures used are dark, the grass is almost black, and the flowers are all recoloured to look very dark and gothic. I love it, but it is hard on the eyes sometimes.
Lucky Palms is probably the best suited to expanding - there's room to place extra lots, even, lots of flat terrain.

edited March 2015You can't buy Roaring Heights or Monte Vista with simpoints? I just checked. Thats odd. Have you tried contacting EA about it? Roaring Heights is my favorite world.
-
Sunlit Tides is coming up for the Daily Deal on March 4th for half off.
I can't choose between Lunar Lakes and Midnight Hollow, both have their pros and cons. Lunar Lakes is a crazy new world, but is just base game for the price. Midnight Hollow has a lot of new and recolored build and buy objects, as well as a fair amount of create-a-Sim stuff, but some users have said that it is too dark.0 -

It's because these worlds are sold in retail stores either in the USA or overseas. And so EA isn't allowed to sell them for simpoints because of them being sold like that. It's some type of law that came out right after they sold Hidden Springs in retail that if they sold the world for real money in retail stores, then they had to sell it for real money in the Sims 3 store. So when Monte Vista came out, the SimGuru's who did the live broadcast for the world had told everyone that it couldn't be brought with simpoints. So CS can't do anything about those worlds as that is the way that EA has it set up on the site.

Hidden Springs! It is my favorite world. It's got a neat 'downtown' area thats more city-like, but theres a lot of more spread out lots for a countryside and some that go up the mountain that can be great for a house with a view, or used as a community lot. Theres also some fun Townies to play, and it is pretty in all seasons. Lots of things to do outside in the summer, and looks beautiful with snow. I like to build a log cabin to use as a vacation home.0

edited March 2015Unfortunately I can't tell you which world you would like best. I like them all.
Lunar Lakes is a small world that is very different and goes well with Into the Future EP. It has the Tree of Prosperity and I add that tree to all of my lots in all of my games.
The moon one winter night in Lunar Lakes
Lucky Palms has a lot more room than many worlds. It has open spaces a empty lots where you can place small and large lots of your own. It also comes with the Wishing Well and you can get the Casino with it if you get the gold version. This is the first world that they introduced the idea of Gold and Standard versions and they actually released the casino a few days before the world and it wasn't until after I had purchased the casino that they decided it could be an optional add on to the world. So you can buy the casino at any time as it has never been exclusive to the world.
If you happen to have both Lunar Lakes and Lucky Palms then you can put the Tree of Prosperity and the Wishing Well on your lot. With both items on a lot the pixies may turn up at night. They are fun to watch if you like tiny sparkly pixies flying around the wishing well. Sometimes you get fireflies instead.
If you have Seasons as I do, then you can put the Wishing Well inside your Sims's home and they can fish all winter without having to go out into the cold. This is helpful if your child gets hit with a meteor and you need a death fish in the middle of winter to make Ambrosia so her ghost can become alive again and she can rejoin the family.

I dont have any because I dont really want any but I like the look of Sunlit Tides I think0

@Karritz, Thanks for the info on having both Lucky Palms and Lunar Lakes. Can you catch the pixies around the well? Let me know. I have Lunar Lakes and I'm thinking of getting Lucky Palms.

No you can't catch the pixies you can watch them. If you move in close you can hear them too.
Lucky Palms is a nice big world with empty lots of various sizes including some big empty lots so you can place a few extra builds or rabbit holes.

When I list out my favorite worlds, I was omit Barnacle Bay. I'm not sure why since it is such a great world. It has no routing issues (I've never encountered any) and there is so much potential once you annihilate all the pre-mades and demolish all the builds.
I have turned it into an island world by adding dive lots and ports. I have turned into a rural area by adding farms and horse ranches. I have turned it into a Victorian world. Right now, I am making it into a tourist trap town. The beach side is theme inspired where all the rabbit holes and community lots are located. The houses on that side fit the theme, the service Sims will be dressed for that theme (Colonial). On the other side is where the 'locals' live and all there houses are Cape Cod style home and Farm Houses. They are all dressed normally.
It is my favorite world to make over because the lots are great sized (unlike some other worlds that frustrate me because all the lots are either massive, there aren't enough of them, or they are all tiny).
The one issue with Barnacle Bay is that it is easy to get carried away with so much space and wind up overpopulating the world and creating lag for yourself. I have to force myself to carefully count the Sims I am adding and not get too many in there.
